THE GRANT LODGE NO. 2862 E.C.
Year of Warrant - 1901

The Lodge meets at the Victoria Masonic Temple, Galle Face, Colombo 3 on the last Saturday in the months of, January, March, May, July, September and November; with the Installation Meeting in May

The Grant Lodge had its origins in the Southern city of Galle with its headquarters at the extremity of the New Orient Hotel (NOH) in the historic Dutch Fort. The original NOH building still stands but is better known as the ultra luxury Amangalla Hotel, a part of the international group of Aman Resorts.

The Lodge members were largely drawn from the Southern Province planting Fraternity. The leading light for many years was Alexander Edward Butler, who came to Ceylon to take up a planting career. The NOH was owned by Bro. R. L. (Lenny) Ephraums and when he died it devolved on his daughter. As the hotel needed space for expansion, The Grant Lodge had to make way and move out.

The Lodge initially relocated to Panadura, just South of Colombo but eventually moved to the Victoria Masonic Temple, Colombo, where it meets today. Unfortunately, the dates and circumstances of these moves are not known as most of the recorded history of The Grant Lodge is unavailable.

Due to a period of abeyance, the Lodge was unable to celebrate its centenary in 2001.
